Reshaping Society and Business in this century

Times Foundation along with Indian Business Academy, Greater Noida, organized a lecture by Prof. Leo Burke from University of Notre Dame's Mendoza college of Business and Dr. Rick Levy, a Clinical Psychologist and world renowned expert in field of mind and body medicine, at the academy on Monday, September 8 th 2008.

Professor Leo Burke discussed about major global trends in business and societies. He discussed the most pressing global issues and as to how these issues would affect our society. Talking about the various complexities and uncertainties before the world today, Professor Burke, explained the impact of global trends on India and the important issues facing India like the increasing population and poverty. He further added that India has a unique intellectual property and advantage of management skills which will give it an edge in global trade in future.

Moving on from business and global issues, Dr. Rick Levy took the audience to a spiritual plane. Talking about spirituality, meditation and how these can improve our lives, he explained how the east is moving towards the west and when the west is actually moving towards east. He acknowledged the greatness of the knowledge shared and given by the east to the west. Dr. Levy explained how the teachings of rishis and gurus of yore has inspired people in the west and made them turn towards spirituality and meditation. The imbalance in the cultures of both east and west, Dr. Levy emphasized, can be restored if they share their wisdom with each other.
Dr. Levy also took a meditation session with the audience during the talk.

The talk was followed by an interactive session between the speakers and the audience.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks.
